Term Specifications |
Two years, commencing July 1, except that:
a. A student appointee, upon graduation, shall remain eligible for the Commission until the next July 1, at which time that student's term of office shall terminate.
b. Should the student appointee cease attending, the institution for which they are appointed their appointment shall terminate immediately and the position shall be considered vacant. |

Duties |
Commission will act in an advisory capacity for the following: 1. On the need to establish programs to render consultation and advice to women who reside in the County of Fresno, and who are or are likely to become in need of public assistance; 2. Make recommendations to the Board concerning laws, procedures, practices or measures which the Board could adopt to reduce the incidence of violent crime committed against women; 3. Advise the Board concerning appropriate measures available to the County which would promote the better delivery of health services to women who cannot afford to pay for them; 4. Recommend and promote at the state and national level, legislation to enhance employment opportunities for women likely to require public assistance, protect women from violent crime and ensure the delivery of health services to women who cannot afford such services; and 5. Act as an information agency informing women on all matters within the appropriate scope of the Commission |
Qualifications |
There shall be nine members appointed by the affirmative vote of a majority of the Board of Supervisors as follows: Five appointees, each Board member shall appoint one individual who resides within that Board Member’s District; two at Large appointees; one Community College student; and one Four-Year College student |

AB 1234 Ethics Training |
Pursuant to Government Code Section 53235, if any local agency provides any type of compensation, salary, or stipend to a member of a legislative body or provides reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred by a member of a legislative body in the performance of official duties, then all agency officials shall receive training in ethics. |
